6 - Trail Work Days
Some of the ways that our volunteers have helped to prepare the trail
for construction include disposing of rubbish, clearing and burning
brush along the trail corridor, and working with local authorities to
help plan and coordinate construction logistics. Any work that we
can accomplish will reduce the cost of construction, resulting in more
miles of paved trail.
To date, six 30-cubic yard dumpsters have been filled and removed from
the trail corridor. FMCPT members constructed barricades at each
major intersection to prevent further dumping.
FMCPT members performed drainage work at the Glade Run Road trail
intersection. Thanks to ADS Corporation in London for the
donation of tile for the Glade Run Road project. Drainage work
was also required at the Wilson Road trail intersection. Thanks
to FMCPT members Dan and Amy Ansell, who donated the tile for this
drainage improvement. Thanks also to Levin Hutson and his crew
from the Madison County Engineer's office for their work in installing
the tile.
FMCPT member Gary Stites has provided valuable services with his
bulldozer to clear a path for construction crews to access the trail
corridor. His work saved thousands of dollars on the final
construction bids. And finally, thanks to our many local
residents who hauled numerous truckloads of wood from the trail
corridor.
