Scout Matt Pritchard has taken on cleaning up the future site for the London
Nature Preserve and Wetlands for his Eagle Scout project.
The 51-acre area, owned by the City of London, lies just east of the MATCO building on Maple Street
and is on the north side of the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks, adjacent to the Roberts Pass bicycle trail.
Even though the old dump had closed down many years ago, people still continued to dump unwanted stuff there.
Refuse in the area included tires, roofing materials, scrap metal and other miscellaneous objects.
