Here is a picture of the young men of Boy Scout Troop 102 posing with some of the debris cleaned from the trail last Saturday (6/19/04) with the sign that we installed at the Maple Street entrance. The picture shows Grant Neimeyer, Matt Grigsby and Daniel Pritchard in the front; Cody Yost, Matt Pritchard, and Judy Grigsby in the second row; Scoutmaster Casey Elliott and Mike Pritchard are in the rear. Assistant Scoutmaster Jerry Grigsby took the picture. Bill Betchel, the sign painter (artist?), is in the hospital and was unable to be there when we installed the sign. His good friend, Gene Pass, a board member of the "Friends of the Trail", took a copy of these pictures to him Saturday night. This picture shows the sign installed at the Spring Valley Road entrance. Assistant Scoutmaster Jerry Grigsby and Scoutmaster Casey Elliott are helping Life Scout Matt Grigsby hold up the sign - just kidding! The Scouts of Troop 102 have made a commitment to help maintain and clean this section of the trail, through the leadership of Robert West who earned his Eagle cleaning the trail and Brian Bingman, who promised to get the Troop to adopt the trail as part of his Eaglefeather leadership training. Boy Scouts fosters this type of leadership. We hope to be involved in the trail for years to come. By the way, this section of trail is not open for bicycles but it sure is a pretty hike. Parts of the trail are very secluded and wild and there are a variety of plants and wildflowers along the trail. Casey Elliott, SM |
