Deer Creek Fall Color Ride

Deer Creek Fall Color Ride
Saturday, October 13, 2012
London, Ohio

Welcome to the 1st Annual Deer Creek Fall Color Ride! This budget tour is this season's final fling to enjoy the lovely autumn colors along the byways in the Darby Creek and Deer Creek valleys, sponsored by the Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails.

The tour consists of two different routes: a 38-mile short loop to Darbydale and around toward London along Deer Creek; and a 77-mile option meandering along Darby Creek to Williamsport and over to the Deer Creek valley via Deer Creek State Park near Mt. Sterling and back to London. All rides will kick off between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. from the Prairie Grass Trail trailhead located behind the Madison County Senior Citizens Center at 280 West High St. in London. The courses will wind through scenic rural countryside in Madison, Franklin, Pickaway, and Fayette Counties, featuring gently rolling terrain.

Both routes start on the Prairie Grass Trail, go to Roberts Pass on the east side of London, and on to the Camp Chase Trail before turning south to Darbydale following rural roads through the two valleys on the way back to London. Since this is a budget tour, you may opt to take a counter clock-wise loop and come back via the bikeway. Also, there are places to stop and refresh along the way at various restaurants, grocery and convenience stores en route - or save your appetite for the many fine restaurants in London post ride. The locations are indicated on our maps, and for London area, see the large map at the Prairie Grass Trailhead.

The $5.00 pre-registration fee includes detailed tour maps, identification number (which must be displayed at all times), and support services. The Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails will also have t-shirts available for purchase on the day of the tour for $15.00.

All pre-registrations must be received by Saturday, October 6, 2012. We plan our tour on the number of registrations received. We are sorry but refunds cannot be made if you are unable to ride after you have registered. All registrations received after October 6, including the day of the tour will be $8.00.
